Joanne Probyn is a contemporary Canadian abstract painter known for her acrylic-based works using mixed media and textured mediums. Her creative endeavors have been exhibited and published widely. Probyn’s career inspired relocations to New York and San Francisco and garnered international and local recognition including North Vancouver Arts Council’s Award for Excellence in Painting. Her professional activities include teaching therapeutic art. She has studied painting with Kiff Holland, and video/installation art with Governor General Award recipient, Eric Metcalfe. Probyn is a CARFAC and FCA member. She is also an early member of burgeoning Vancouver-based women’s art collective, THRIVE Art Studio. Probyn has assisted Famous Painters muralist, Dana Irving, and was a 2018 Vancouver Mural Festival artist with THRIVE. Probyn completed her education in design and illustration at Capilano University and holds a UBC Sauder certificate in marketing.
